TYPES OF GLASS

  • Close-up of shattered glass with cracks radiating from the center.

    Anneal Glass

Also known as “Raw” glass or “Regular” glass. This type of glass is possible to be cut down. when broken can look like long pointy shards

  • Close-up of shattered glass with a web-like pattern.

    Tempered Glass

Fully tempered glass is four to five times stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness. Fully tempered glass, if broken, will disintegrate into many small pieces (dice) which are more or less cubical. This type of glass is cannot be cut down. usually has an etched label on one of the corners

  • Two glass straws with a green carbonated beverage inside, placed on a white surface.

    Laminated Glass

A composite unit of glass and interlayer material. (I.E: Two pieces of anneal or tempered glass cooked with a middle interlayer). This glass if anneal, is able to be cut.

  • Close-up of a blue tiled surface with a water reflection.

    Wired Glass

Flat rolled glass having a layer of meshed or stranded wire completely imbedded as nearly as possible to the center of thickness of the sheet. It breaks more easily than non-wired glass of the same thickness, but the wire restrains the fragments from falling out of the frame when broken.
